I'm just happy to be hereBy intention or accident, you've reached my online portfolio. Thank you, or I'm sorry. Hopefully, you'll like what you see. I wrote the HTML and CSS for this from scratch, testing it on Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome and some versions of Internet Explorer. It should work well on all those browsers, though if you're using Internet Explorer, I suggest viewing it on IE 7 or 8 for the best results. I've been a graphic artist since 2003, working for The Columbia Missourian, The Sun News (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and The Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville, Fla.) I love that my job demands the precision of a copy editor, the math skills of an algebra geek, the creativity of an eccentric and the research skills of a reporter. I bring all of these qualities to every project. Many of my projects you'll see are self-generated and self-reported. Through internships, college work and my jobs, I've been able to work in many newsroom positions: graphic artist, reporter/writer, copy editor, page designer, web editor and photo editor. By working with every department in the newsroom on a vast array of projects, I'm fluent across a range of styles and can adapt to the project's needs. Please think of this website as a work in progress. I've been teaching myself CSS, HTML and some JavaScript, so as I get more comfortable, I'll tweak the site and post more diverse projects. So, check back often and let me know what you think with an e-mail. As for the section headers, most will be self-explanatory. The "miscellaneous" section might be the only ambiguous category. The pages were not easily classifiable as infographics, illustrations, or could be considered both. Rather, I thought I'd create a spot for all those ones that I couldn't instantly categorize. When not working on this site, I geek out on The New York Times, The Boston Globe, all things St. Louis, infographics, Scrabble, India pale ales, new music and John Hughes movies. I have an 11-year-old nephew whom I hope will hire me when he inevitably becomes CEO of the world. Take care, and thanks for taking the time to look over my work,
